Check AvailabilityThe Classic Car Carrier is the machine that moves the other machines. Its deck is built to be loaded: fold the tailgate down, roll the smaller vehicles up the ramp, fold it back and drive away with the whole fleet aboard. Unloading at the destination is the same sequence in reverse, and the ramp is the kind of mechanism children work out in about four seconds.
Capacity is the headline. The deck takes up to five of the die-cast Metal Movers, or three of the Mighty Force machines, which makes it the only vehicle in the catalogue whose job is defined by the rest of the collection. It also means it doubles as a display piece: a loaded carrier on a shelf looks like a parked delivery rather than a row of loose toys.
Underneath it is a full steel classics build, friction-powered, long and low, with the weight distributed so that a loaded deck does not tip the nose. Smaller vehicles are not included, which is the point — it is designed around the fleet somebody already has.
The usual second or third purchase for a household where the collection has outgrown the toy box. Ages three and up.
Every truck in this catalogue follows the construction philosophy Tonka has used since 1947: metal in the load-bearing body, sturdy plastic in the detail work, and moving parts engineered to be operated by enthusiastic hands thousands of times. There are no batteries to die and no screens to crack. What wears in becomes character; what wears out is usually the owner, around age fourteen, right before the truck goes into storage for the next generation.
Outdoor play is what these machines are for. After sessions in wet sand or rain, rinse the truck with clean water and towel it dry — that keeps the steel body and axles smooth for decades. Avoid leaving it submerged or outside through winter. For collector-grade display models, an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth keeps decals and paint sharp. The full routine is in our Play & Care Guide.
