Tonka fire trucks
Fire engines have been part of the Tonka line for decades, and the current range carries one: the Fire Rescue Truck, the only red machine in a yellow fleet. It is a full Steel Classics build: steel body, sturdy plastic detailing, free-rolling wheels and a ladder up top, rated for ages three and up.
For a lot of kids the fire truck is not one option among many; it is the whole point. If the recipient's heart belongs to the fire station rather than the job site, this is the Tonka to start with. It takes outdoor abuse the same way the construction machines do, and the red paint hides scuffs better than the yellow ever has.
Beyond the fire station
The Tow Truck is the natural partner: between them they cover breakdowns, rescues and every roadside drama a carpet highway can produce. Add the Mighty Crane and the tall-building rescues start.
If the box must be red
One machine in the range wears red, so there is no choosing to do inside the catalogue. The decision is the size of the gift: the Fire Rescue Truck stands on its own, or it rides along as the hero piece of a starter fleet.
