Fire engines have been part of the Tonka line for decades, and the current range carries one: the Hook N' Ladder Fire Truck, the only red machine in a yellow fleet. It is a full Steel Classics build — red steel body, sturdy plastic detailing, free-rolling wheels — with a ladder that rotates a full circle and extends to twenty inches, and a storage compartment behind a side door.

There is no choosing to do inside the catalogue, so the decision is really the size of the gift. The Hook N' Ladder stands on its own, or it rides along as the hero piece of a starter fleet. It is rated for ages three and up and holds the same construction standard as the rest of the steel line, which means it can go outside and be hosed off afterwards.
